Our Story
Bora Candle began in 2016, in a little garage in Brisbane, Australia — simply from my love of making something beautiful for the people I cared about.
I never imagined it would become a business. I was just making candles for myself, my family and as little gifts for friends.
Because they were made for people I loved, I wanted to use ingredients I felt good about, spending countless hours testing different waxes, wicks and fragrances until I created something I was truly happy to give.
Slowly, people started coming back for another candle, telling their friends, and what began quietly in my garage started to grow through word of mouth.
In 2018, I had to step away from Bora Candle for a year due to health reasons, and at the time, I wasn’t sure if I would ever start again.
Then one day, a lovely customer who had enjoyed my candles contacted me and asked if I could create candle favours for her wedding. She encouraged me to keep making candles and told me she wanted to help introduce Bora Candle to more people through her special day.
Her kindness and belief in what I was creating touched me deeply and gave me the confidence to begin again.
It made me realise that even something as small as a candle, when made with care, could become part of someone’s happiest memories and bring a little joy into their life.
From that moment, Bora Candle slowly grew with me, expanding from candles into home diffusers, perfumes and creative candle and perfume workshops.
Even today, I’m still learning every day, and Bora Candle continues to grow in the way it always has — through returning customers, word of mouth, kindness and the wonderful people I meet along the way.
I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has purchased a candle, joined a workshop, recommended us to a friend or simply walked through our door to say hello.
From a little garage in 2016 to our home in Paddington, Brisbane today, so much has changed, but the heart behind Bora Candle has always remained the same.
With every product I create, I still ask myself the same question:
Would I be happy to give this to someone I love?
And after all these years, I feel incredibly lucky to still be creating, sharing and doing what I love — made with love, made to be shared.
